Critics Consensus

Simple, but strong, Stumptown moves at a brisk pace and packs a serious punch thanks in large part to Cobie Smulders' star making performance.

A more-than-sturdy foundation for a fresh spin on the network detective series.

Smulders has been underrated for some time, and she's excellent here, finding just the right edge to the character but keeping her likable at the same time.

Mostly what struck me about Stumptown, however, was how fun it was to watch, from the chase sequences to the music to the chemistry between characters.

In a show filled with stand out characters, the most surprising one was the music. Stumptown is going to become the Guardians of the Galaxy of the TV world if they keep us this incredible soundtrack.

Cobie Smulders is amazing in Stumptown and with plenty of awesome action and a lead it's easy to root for, the series has all the makings of must-watch television providing it can up the ante moving forward.

After the premiere, I'm confident I can live another week without Stumptown. I'm not worried about stumbling across any spoilers, and I definitely won't be losing sleep over this story.

If you're looking for something that has the unique blend of familiarity and innovation that a really good network pilot can offer, that balancing of the restrictions of the form with a show that wants to try something new, check out Stumptown.

[Cobie] Smulders is so charismatic as my all-time favorite dirtbag private investigator, I just genuinely enjoyed watching her story unfold on-screen.

I've loved every moment of this show. It's been a while since I anticipated new episodes of a tv show this much. Looking forward to seeing what comes next!

pretty good show, it has big star power and good stories. Not unusual for the lead character to have complex problems, inner demons etc. In this case PTSD and broken heart, but the show works, and good to watch.

Awesome show without the "feminist" agenda and "political identity" shoved down our throats with a great female lead in Cobie Smulders. Which proves you don't have to go all SJW on viewers with a female lead. It doesn't matter that the lead actor is a woman, she's a great actress and lead character that makes you feel like you can't wait to see the next episode! Which also proves that you don't need gender identity to have a successful show led by a strong woman character. Other shows who've gone full woke to pander to SJW's by pushing feminist, gender and political agendas just goes to show that viewers (40+yr old males included), don't care about if it's a female character lead show to be successful. We only care about if the show is good, good lead actress, good witting, good story lines, good characters. This show has success written all over it and as a 40+ year old male, is the kind of show that I will be watching regularly. I am sure that many others feel that way and that will double the loyal viewership since the actress and studio behind it don't insult half of the potential viewers by making the show about a "her" who insults all 40+yr old males to push feminist, political correctness and political agendas to pander to SJW's. This show proves you don't need to do that to be successful period! 5 STARS! Two Thumbs up in my book!!
